La Rivolte is a beautiful Belle Epoque villa built in 1883 for one of the local perfumery families, set in 2 hectares of terraced Mediterranean gardens with palms, pine trees, 60 ancient olive trees and various fruit trees and tropical plants and flowers. There is a heated swimming pool with sauna. The villa and grounds enjoy spectacular panoramic views over the old town of Grasse and across the valley to the Mediterranean and Esterel. In front of the villa is a large terrace for al fresco dining. We offer accommodation either on a self-catering basis through the summer months or on a Bed & Breakfast basis from October to May. La Rivolte is an ideal base from which to explore the Cote d'Azur. Nice, Cannes, St. Tropez, Antibes, Monaco, St. Paul de Vence are all just a short drive away as is the Italian border. 30 minutes from Nice Cote d'Azur airport.

Cleaning/Towels

Bedding and towels are provided. The villa is cleaned prior to your arrival, 4 hours mid-week cleaning and cleaning after departure. Extra maid service available if required.

Accommodation details

Bedrooms : There are 8 Provencal bedrooms, 4 doubles ensuite - the master bedroom, Jasmin having a large bathroom and private balcony. One of the double bedrooms (Herb Cottage) is an annex in the garden with shower ensuite and private garden/patio with table and chairs. There are 4 twin bedrooms - 2 with ensuite, a smaller twin bedroom with shower and WC just opposite and a smaller twin room without ensuite.
Bathrooms : There is an extra shower and WC on the ground floor of the villa.
Kitchen : The large kitchen/dining room with open fireplace is well-equipped and there is a utility room with 2 washing machines and dryers and an American fridge/freezer with ice maker.

Living room : There are 2 salons, one with satellite TV, DVD player, X-Box and piano. The other salon has an extensive library of guidebooks, maps and novels. Both salons have beautiful Moroccan fireplaces.

Outside

Outside on the large terrace there are several large table and chairs as well as several parasols for shade. There is a large BBQ and a ping pong table. There are 10 wooden sunloungers by the swimming pool and a sauna next to the pool house.

Nearby Activities

Grasse is known as the world capital of perfume and the 3 main perfumeries can be visited. They also offer a perfume workshop where you can create your own perfume. There are numerous excellent golf courses in the area. Canyoning and canoeing can be enjoyed on the Loup river and in the spectacular Gorges du Verdon as well as bungee jumping. The area has excellent conditions for paragliding and hanggliding and there is a flying site 20 minutes away. Hiking, sailing, windsurfing.

Local information

The medieval town of Grasse is set in the foothills of the Alps and is known as the 'balcony' of the Cote d'Azur. Set slightly back from the coast, it enjoys wonderful panoramic views across the Bay. The Cote d'Azur is world famous for its beautiful towns and coastline and its mild climate. The coastline runs from Menton on the Italian border passing Monaco/MonteCarlo, Villefranche, Nice, Antibes, Cannes and the Esterel towards St. Tropez. Near to Grasse are the beautiful hill top towns of Fayence, Cabris, St. Paul de Vence and Gourdon.

Skiing

There are several good ski resorts within a short drive - the closest being Greolieres les Neiges, just a 45 minute drive from the villa. There is also Le Seignus/Fou d'Allos at an hour and 30 minutes drive away and the larger ski resort of Isola 2000, behind Nice, a 2 hour drive away. The smaller ski resorts of Valberg and Auron, but still with excellent skiing, are an hour and 30 minutes away. More information and links on our website - please ask us for the address.

We ask for a booking deposit of 25% either payable by credit card or wire transfer and the balance payment one month prior to rental. We also ask for a 20% security deposit upon arrival (payable by cheque).
